Janus Del Prado Says “PPop” Is Just A Photocopy Of “KPop”, Netizens React

Netizens have mixed reactions to the controversial post of Janus Del Prado about PPop and KPop.

JANUS DEL PRADO – Here’s what actor Janus Del Prado said about Philippine pop or Pinoy Pop that earned various comments.

Philippine pop or Pinoy Pop is regarded as popular contemporary music in the Philippines originating from OPM genre. However, in the current times, PPop is now looking a lot similar to KPop or Korean Pop coming from the singers’ dresses and look aside from the language used in a song. In this generation, P-pop idol groups rose such as the Philippines’ first idol group MNL48, the all-boy idol group SB19, and recently introduced is the BGYO.

With the rise of these groups, actor Janus Del Prado gave his “two cents” or opinion about this. Accordingly, PPop is just a “photo copy” of “KPop” indicating that what our country has don’t have and identity they call their own.

He added, “Eh walang kabahud bahid ng pagka pinoy maliban sa in filipino yung lyrics.”

In his post, he defended that he has nothing against KPop and PPop as they are talented but he believe that people cannot call PPop as original. He said, “Plagiarism yan. Sana tinawag niyo na lang na Korean-Pinoy Pop o KPpop. Or pwede din naman PKpop.”

pati ba naman yan pagtatalunan pa? ginaya din naman ng Kpop ang Jpop.

Dun pa ren ako sa totoong OPM! etong PPop is a complete imitation lang naman talaga sa Kpop that inspired by taiwanese and japanese boybands. So ganyan talaga branding branding lang yan.

Walang masama doon Janus kung aligned ba sa Kpop yung mga emerging talents ngayon eh, kailangan alam mo ang market mo.

Meanwhile., MNL48 and SB19 have already earned international recognition. P-pop boy band SB19 became a Billboard Social 50 mainstay after landing at Top 15. The highest they landed was behind second behind BTS on the week of August 15, 2020.
