Metro Manila, CAR, 6 More To Be Under GCQ In February 2021

METRO MANILA – The Palace recently announced that Metro Manila, CAR, and six other areas will be under GCQ starting February.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque the six other area that will be placed under general community quarantine will be Batangas, Tacloban City, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City, according to a report from GMA News.

The rest of the country will be under modified general community quarantine or MGCQ.

Roque added that the community quarantine classifications approved by President Duterte.

The elevation of CAR’s status was followed after cases of new coronavirus variant, that was first detected in the United Kingdom, were reported there. Twelve of the nation’s UK variant cases were traced in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

The City of Passi in Iloilo province, on the other hand, will be under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until February due to the 166 new cases of COVID-19 that was recorded since Wednesday. Most of them were market vendors and their close contacts.

The Department of Health also showed that the COVID-19 bed utilization rate in CAR, which is about 60%, was the highest in the country as of January 24, based on the report.

Roque said earlier that the government’s COVID-19 task force relies on data on two-week attack rate and critical care capacity in order to determine the possible quarantine classifications.
