NPA Rebel Killed In Gunfight In San Agustin, Isabela

SAN AGUSTIN – A rebel from the New People’s Army (NPA) was recently killed in a firefight with the military and cops in San Agustin, Isabela.

The NPA rebel, identified as Renato Busania, has been in hiding for 13 years for double murder, according to a report from the Manila Bulletin.

Busania, known as Andong, Ace and Narding, died after he had a gunfight against the operatives from the 86th Infantry Battalion, 205th Maneuver, San Agustin Police and other law enforcement units, who attempted to arrest him.

The rebel is a regional military staff member of the Kilusang Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley. His arrest for double murder was based on a warrant of arrest issued by a regional trial court (RTC) in Echague, Isabela.

Another warrant of arrest for double murder was issued by the regional trial court in Maddela, Quirino last November 4, 2019. The suspect was rushed to the nearest hospital, but was pronounced dead on-arrival.

Retrieved from the suspect was a caliber-.45 and a grenade, based on the report.

Last week, in Borongan City, Samar, a suspected member of the New People’s Army was recently arrested there.

Prior to the arrest, a 30-minute encounter between soldiers and communist rebels occurred in Sitio Manaba in Barangay Pinanag-an there.

The rebels left behind their fellow member, who was eventually arrested.
