Miners Trapped Under Gold Mine For A Week Send Letter To Rescuers

MINERS TRAPPED UNDER GOLD MINE – Following a blast at a gold mine, miners from eastern China were trapped underground for more than a week.

Luckily, these miners managed to send a note up to the rescuers, authorities said. According to an article from Inquirer, the blast happened eight days ago at a mine near Qixia city, Easter Shandong.

After the blast, 22 miners were left trapped underground, more than 600 meters away from the mine’s entrance. For almost a week, rescuers had no contact with the trapped miners.

Fortunately, the rescuers managed to drill through the mine and heard “knocking sounds”. Afterward, a note was sent up from the trapped miners detailing how 12 were still alive.

As per the article, the note read:

We are in urgent need of cold medicine, painkillers, medical tape, external anti-inflammatory drugs, and three people have high blood pressure

Furthermore, the writer of the not pleaded to the rescuers not to stop their operation as they still had hopes for survival. However, the state of the 10 remaining workers was unknown.

Footage from a CCTV revealed how rescuers sent down a metal wire attached with food parcel down to the trapped miners. Later, when they pulled the wire, there was a note attached to it.

Due to the blast, the communication system and exit ladder from the mine were severely damaged. Currently, authorities are continuing rescue operations.
