High-value Drug Personality Was Killed in Catbalogan During Buy-bust Operation

A high-value target drug personality was killed during the buy-bust operation conducted by the RDEU in Catbalogan City.

According to the report of Manila Bulletin, the suspect was identified as Lucio Abarcar. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) consider him as a high-value individual in Eastern Visayas.

According to Catbalogan Police Chief, Lt Col. Francisco Sumpo Jr., Abarcar was killed after he chose to fight and shoot the authorities in a drug stint conducted on Friday night in Barangay 2, Salug, in Catbalogan City.

Based on the report, the drug sting was conducted with the cooperation of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 8, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Samar Police Provincial Office, and the City Drug Enforcement Team.

They recovered three sachets of illegal drugs, which claimed by an undercover agent worth P25,000. Aside from that, 18 other plastic sachets containing illegal drugs weighing approximately 30 grams, and the estimated street value of P300,000 were recovered.

Also, the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a .45 caliber pistol, four fired cartridge cases, and 14 unknown tablets. The recovered pieces of evidence were taken to Catbalogan City Police Station. The suspect’s dead body was later taken to a local funeral home.
