Secret Drugs Lab In Subic Bay Freeport Zone Busted, Four Cops Nabbed
SUBIC BAY – A clandestine illegal drugs lab inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales was busted and 5 individuals were nabbed.
Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police retrieved 300 grams of suspected illegal drugs in an operation conducted at 1 AM, according to a report from Inquirer.
The secret lab was also dismantled after the bust, PDEA added. They arrested the suspects in the “kitchen-type” laboratory, which was found at Quarter 366-B Sangley Loop, Finback, West Kalayaan, which is inside the aforementioned area.
The lab is capable of producing 3 to 4 kilograms of illegal drugs daily, probers reported.
Among the arrested were four cops identified as Lt. Reynato Basa Jr., Cpl. Gino Dela Cruz, Cpl. Edesyr Victor Alipio, Cpl. Godfrey Duclayan Parentela. A certain Jericho Dabu was also arrested as well.
PDEA-NCR regional director Adrian Alvariño said that the syndicate behind the operation of the lab is composed of a Canadian national, a Filipino who delivers the illegal drugs, and our police officers from the Subic Station Drug Enforcement Unit.
The four cops serves as their protector and helps them dispose of the illegal drugs.
A follow-up operation is ongoing for the arrest of the Canadian national. Alvariño added that the lab was discovered when Dabu, the subject of a buy-bust, ran towards the house where the lab is located.
“His police escorts and protectors were also arrested nearby who served as lookout,”
“This type of laboratory is common in Western countries, using improvised equipment and available chemicals in the market. The operation is under the case operational plan of PDEA NCR and CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) Northern District,”
