DOJ Urges 9 Dismissed Jolo Police Who Killed Philippine 4 Army Intel to Surrender

Department of Justice (DOJ) urged the nine (9) dismissed police involved in killing four Philippine Army Intel in Jolo, Sulu to surrender.

Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra said that instead of being chased by their former peers, such policemen should just voluntarily surrender. This follows the release of them by the Philippine National Police (PNP) because they are no longer under their jurisdiction and due to the lack of arrest warrants.

Guevarra also ordered prosecutors to file an urgent motion in the Sulu Regional Trial Court for the issuance of a hold departure order against the accused. It will be recalled that the lower court in Sulu could not issue an arrest order because Sulu was locked down.

Last year, on June 29, four Philippine Army Intelligence were killed in Jolo Sulu while inside SUV. According to the previous article, the military men were tracking suspects involved in the Sulu bombing when the shooting incident happened.

Dismissed Jolo Police Surrender

The National Bureau of Investigation filed complaints about four counts of murder and planting of evidence. And now, former policemen have been removed from the custody of the Philippine National Police pending a warrant of arrest from the court.
