Twitter Permanently Suspends Trump Following Attack On Capitol

TWITTER PERMANENTLY SUSPENDS TRUMP – Social media platform Twitter decided to permanently ban the account of President Donald Trump.

Recently, Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol as Congress was about to certify Joe-Biden as the winner of the November 2020 Presidential elections. According to lawmakers, the attack was incited by Trump who told supporters to “march to the Capitol”.

Following this, the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg himself made a statement announcing a ban on the current U.S. President. Along with Facebook, Zuckerberg said Trump was also banned in IG and other social media platforms under Facebook.

Afterward, Twitter also temporarily suspended Trump’s account. However, Twitter made another review of Trump’s account and decided to ban him permanently. In its official statement, Twitter said:

After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence

We made it clear going back years that these accounts are not above our rules entirely and cannot use Twitter to incite violence, among other things. We will continue to be transparent around our policies and their enforcement

Furthermore, Twitter said if Trump used another account it would also be suspended. With almost 89 million followers, Trump used his Twitter as a “typewriter” for his own “breaking news”.

However, Trump has timelessly used Twitter to threaten rivals, spread fake news regarding the coronavirus, and more recently, a narrative that he had won the 2020 presidential elections.
