Instant Noodles a ‘Godsend Food’ for China Residents Due to Another Lockdown

Some China residents are considering the instant noodles as a ‘godsend food’ after another lockdown has been declared.

Shijiazhuang authorities has implemented a lockdown after the cases of coronavirus disease in the area spike again. As of Wednesday (January 6, 2021), 63 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, which is the highest daily tally in China for the past few months.

Hebei province canceled the operations of train services, buses, and plane flights after recording 125 confirmed cases and 186 asymptomatic cases of COVID-19.

A 33-year-old resident named Wang Yufeng got surprised after the government announced the lockdown. She also prioritized the orders of her customers from her clothing business in Hebei province.

Unfortunately, Yufeng forgot about her food supplies and tried to buy groceries but most shops have closed. The businesswoman had a bag of flour, a cabbage and a stash of instant noodles at her home.

The female entrepreneur is hoping that the lockdown will be lifted sooner or later so she could return to her business and could eat something else aside from instant noodles.

“Winter is the peak season for selling clothes, if I can’t sell now, my stock will become outdated and I’ll have to sell it at a loss,” Wang said.

A 41-year-old resident also failed to go to shops but he was lucky enough that his family was able to buy enough supply of food last month.
