Army Soldier Kills Superior When He Runs Amok After Being Reminded of Duty

An Army soldier in Zamboanga del Sur runs amok and kills his immediate superior inside their camp after he was reminded of his duty.

The suspect, Private First Class Herbert Antonio, killed his superior, Technical Sergeant Joseph Cutaran as he was overcome with his anger against the victim. Cutaran called him out for failing to attend to his duties, based on the report of ABS-CBN News.

According to Major Edwin Duco, spokesperson of the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Police, the suspect, and the victim were both belonged to the Army’s 54th Engineering Brigade stationed in the village Cabatangan.

Antonio was reprimanded and went berserk. He immediately pulled out his gun and shot Cutaran in the head twice that led to killing the victim instantly. After the shooting incident, the suspect fled the camp.

Based on the report, investigators found empty shells at the crime scene believed to be from the caliber 9mm pistol used by the suspect. Captain Albin Cabayacruz, commander of the Santa Maria police station, said Antonio was assigned to look after the camp’s elevated water tank.

Cabayacruz revealed that Cutaran reprimanded Antonio at his barracks and allegedly drunk. The tank Anotonio supposed to watch was already full and the water was overflowing.
