Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma Vanished From Own TV Show?
The Chinese business tycoon Jack Ma mysteriously vanished from his own reality TV show and got replaced due to his absence.
Mystery surrounds the absence of the Chinese billionaire for the final of “The Apprentice”-style “Africa’s Business Heroes” show. The personality disappeared after several weeks of appearance as judge in the show.
The 56-year-old personality is originally a part of the panel judging the contestants of the show, which offers US$1.5 million worth of prize money for budding African entrepreneurs. The businessman’s position has been replaced by an executive from Alibaba.
The Financial Times reported that Jack Ma’s show has been delayed until the spring. Alibaba spokesperson also that the famous personality will be no longer a part of the show due to conflict in schedule.
Jack Ma appears to have fallen foul of its leaders after criticizing China state-owned banks and regulators last year. He even called for reform of the regulatory system last October 2020.
The Chinese authorities announced to conduct probe into Alibaba over alleged monopolistic behavior. They would also tighten the country’s financial sector although they want to rein in the powerful influence of the private technology giants.
