Trump Won’t Sign COVID Bill Yet, Says He Wants Bigger Stimulus Checks

President Donald Trump Says He Won’t Sign New COVID Bill Unless Stimulus Increases

TRUMP WON’T SIGN COVID BILL – U.S. President Donald Trump threatened not to sign the new $892-billion coronavirus relief bill.

The new bill would’ve included much-needed stimulus checks for impoverished Americans. However, when the bill was released, many were disheartened to see the checks only amounting to $600.

As such, Trump said he won’t sign the bill until it was amended to increase the amounts of the checks. According to an article from Inquirer, Trump said:

The bill they are now planning to send back to my desk is much different than anticipated…”It really is a disgrace”, Trump said in a video posted on Twitter.

Instead of $600, Trump said that he wanted Congress to increase the amount to $2,000 for individuals and $4,000 for couples. In the video, Trump emphasized that $600 was “ridiculously low” for those included in the bill.

As per the article, Trump stated:

I’m also asking Congress to immediately get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation, and to send me a suitable bill, or else the next administration will have to deliver a COVID relief package. And maybe that administration will be me

Currently, there are 18.2 million reported COVID-19 cases in the U.S. Of that number, more than 322 thousand have succumbed to the virus. With that, the U.S. still leads the world with the most number of coronavirus deaths and cases.
