Philippine Government Provides Cash Assistance to Gregorio Family

The Philippine government has provide cash assistance to the Gregorio family after killed by Police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca.

The government together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development give a financial assistance to the relatives of Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Gregorio who were shot dead by the police officer.

Social Welfare Undersecretary Aimee Torrefranca-Neri and Region III director Marites Maristela visited the victims’ family. The agency said that the family would receive financial and food assistance.

However, DSWD refused to announce the amount to be given to the victims’ family. The agency would also provide a psychological intervention to those who have witnessed the crime, according to DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao.

“The psychological support processing that we will do will not only focus on the individuals but on the entire community, they all need to be able to recover and rehabilitate as a result of this incident,” Dumlao said.

Dumlao also said that the 10-year-old daughter of Nuezca also need the psychological support and she must be spared from cyberbullying. The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) also urged the public not to condemn the minor.
