Rider Yields P170k of Illegal Drugs After Failed to Present Driver’s License at Checkpoint

P170,000 worth of illegal drugs seized from rider at checkpoint after he failed to present his driver’s license asked by the police.

A 27-year-old motorcycle rider was arrested after he was searched by police manning checkpoint in Bicutan, Taguig City. He was asked for driver’s license but became restless and failed to present his license.

As a result, the Taguig City Police Station-9 personnel immediately searched and found 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000. The suspect was identified as Tonton Mama, of Building 6, Room 307, Condo, Maharlika Village, Taguig City.

Oplan Sita was held at the corner of MLQ and Mulawin streets, New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City around 8:50 pm on December 11. The Taguig prosecutor’s Office is facing a complaint of the repeal of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Police officials are earlier ordered to intensify their searches at checkpoints due to drug smuggling. Drug dealers mixed the said items from the other things with other products and hide them in car seat or compartment.

Police manning the checkpoint need to ask for important documents from the motorists to verify their true identity. Motorists who failed to present required documents at the checkpoint will be apprehended.
