Drunk Police Who Shot a Man in Tondo Over Parking Issue Surrendered

Man in Tondo, Manila died after alleged drunk police shot him to death due to a heated argument over improper parking of suspect’s motorcycle.

In a report of ABS-CBN, Cpl. Norman Santos assigned ni Manila has surrendered himself after he shoots and kills a man, and injured his friend Mark Lester Quiñones in Tondo, Manila. The suspect explained that he was just defending himself.

Manila Police District Homicide Division Chief Police Captain Henry Navarro said the suspect, Santos, surrendered to his office around 1:30 pm. The blood on J.P. Rizal street in Barangay 106, Tondo, Manila where 32-year-old Joseph Marga was shot.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the suspect’s motorcycle was parked in front of the victim’s house while his friends, including Quiñones, were drinking. The victim allegedly scolded the motorcycle parking which leads to a heated argument.

“Napagsabihan yata ng biktima ‘yung suspek na ‘yung motor niyang nakaparada medyo balagbag. Dahil doon nagkaroon ng heated argument. Pero after nu’n naawat naman. Sabi ng witness natin, umalis ‘yung victim tapos bumalik may dala nang mga pamalo,” said Navarro.

People tried to arrest Santos but he escaped and left his gun behind. According to the official, after the incident, they immediately went to the crime scene and also talked to Santos’ relatives to subdue the suspect.

“Right after po ng insidente, bumaba po kami sa lugar ng pinangyarihan, ganon na rin po sa address na nakasaad sa kaniyang file, pinuntahan namin ‘yung mga kamag-anak niya at pinaliwanagan namin na sabihan si Corporal Santos na di makakabuti sa kaniya kung mananatili siyang at large,” said Navarro.

After a few hours, his peers convinced Santos to give up. The suspect is facing a homicide complaint.

  1. “The suspect is facing a homicide complaint” !?? Better put, that callous, culpable cop should be charged with nothing less than manslaughter, period !! No person should be shot over a trivial, petty parking dispute ! Other police drinking in front of private residences, on or off duty, and carrying firearms, also need to be charged, or are our 3rd World police above the law ? I’m sure the Pres. has a good answer for that !! Needless to say, ‘ every dog has his day’ !
