Bello Gives Job Opportunity to Snatchers Who Stole His Phone Instead of Punishing Them

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III gives job instead of punishing the teenagers who reportedly snatched his mobile phone.

Last week, a group of teenagers snatched the mobile phone of Silvestre Bello III while trying to get a good network signal while being stuck at traffic. He left his car’s window open to find a signal but it gives an opportunity for the snatchers to steal his phone near Manila City Hall.

The young suspects quickly ran away and fled into a sea of people after taking the phone of the Labor Secretary. It was a perfect opportunity for the culprits to escape from their illegal activities.

Recently, Bello offered a job opportunity to the snatchers instead of sending them in jail because of their crime. The Manila Police District arrest four individuals two days after the incident.

The police authorities recovered the mobile phone from the suspects aging 15-18 years old. The snatchers admitted that it was not their first time to perform robbery for having no decent job to earn money.

“Sa tingin ko, these minors might need assistance rather than penalty… Yung mga minors, 15, hindi pa puwede mabigyan ng employment. What we can do is probably give them livelihood. Iyong mga snatcher na 18 above, ‘yon puwede namin bigyan ng emergency employment or I might give them regular employment nang sa gayon mapalayo sila sa tukso sa pagnanakaw,” Bello said.
