Vico Sotto’s Statement For Scholars Wins Hearts of Many
VICO SOTTO – Mayor Vico Sotto reminded the Pasig City scholars they don’t owe their free education to politicians.
The 31-year-old politician beat Robert Eusebio in the 2019 elections. He put an end to the 27-year rule of the family.
On Friday, November 6, Vico Sotto lead the general assembly of thousands of students in the city. He announced that Pasig City government is funding the education of around 18,200 students.
The mayor shared a screenshot of his Zoom meeting with the scholars on his Facebook page. In the caption, he told them that they should never thank him for the free education they are getting from the government because it is the people’s money.
“Laging tandaan na wala tayong utang na loob kahit kanino lalo na sa politiko dahil pera ito ng taumbayan,” he wrote.
While he appreciates them for thanking him, Vico Sotto admitted he felt awkward because the money being used for their education did not come from his own pocket. He said the government’s investment to them will all be worth it if they study hard.
“Mag-aral lang kayo nang mabuti at sulit na ang investment ng lungsod sa inyo,” Vico said.
Vico Sotto’s post easily gave Pinoys another reason to admire his leadership even more. Here are some of their comments from the post:
@Fe Ibarra: “Bilang isang mamamayan ng Pilipinas pangarap ko lahat sanang politico katulad mo.”
@Ampy Delute: “Thank you Honorable Mayor Vico. Your address to the parents and scholar last night is so inspiring. You are really a pure and clean servant to your constituent.”
@Bainora Dimanalao Piang: “Maraming salamat po mayor we are so blessed at nakkaproud first time ko po makarinig ng katagang wla tayong utang n loob kanino dahil ito ay pera ng taumbayan.”
