BOC Retrieves Smuggled Luxury Cars In Manila Port

BOC – The Bureau of Customs recently confiscated a shipment full of smuggled luxury vehicles at the Manila International Container Port.

The said shipment were initially declared as furniture, according to a report from ABS-CBN. The Customs declared the apprehension on Monday abut the seizure occurred last October 20.

Customs official have reported that, as mentioned above, the shipment was imported by Blue Core Enterprises and declared as furniture.

Upon further inspection, the shipment contained luxury vehicles, among them includes a Porsche, a Bentley, a Mercedes Benz, and half-cut Volkswagen.

The cars have an overall worth of about P20 million. The said importer is currently under probe and may face charges for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), based on the report.

The Customs reiterated that importation of second-hand vehicles is strictly prohibited in the country.

The Customs earlier announced the seizure of 119 live tarantulas at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The 119 live tarantulas were hidden inside rubber shoes in a DHL warehouse. They were declared as “buty” or shoes in Polish and were shipped by a Michal Krolicki from Poland to a consignee in the town of General Trias, Cavite.

Customs operatives also uncovered different species of live tarantulas packed in individual plastic vials. The species were turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for proper handling and disposal.
