Rabiya Mateo aims to see her father
Ilongga beauty queen Rabiya Mateo said that she hopes to see her long-lost father after she won the Miss Universe Philippines 2020.
After winning the national pageant, more information about the new queen is being raveled before the public. In her IG post, after the coronation night, Rabiya shared that she dedicated her win to the two single mothers in her life, her mother and her grandmother.
Her family is also number one on the list when she posted her appreciation message after winning the crown. This personal aspect in her life is being shared to her fans and supporters slowly.
In an interview with Philstar columnist Ricky Lo, Rabiya Mateo revealed that her father “is Indian by race but an American citizen”. She said that her father left them when she was just 5 years old.
“I have a younger brother. My mom didn’t remarry so there were only three of us…si mama, my brother and me,” she shared. The Ilongga beauty queen also said that the last time she checked, her father is a doctor in Chicago.
Talking about her childhood, Rabiya said that their life in Iloilo was very simple. “Natutulog kami sa banig. That was normal for us,” she shared. Rabiya spent her childhood and years as young adult in the said province in the Visayas Region.
She came to Manila after graduating from Iloilo Doctors College with a Physical Therapy degree and teach in a review center for two years. Her life is truly an inspiration for those who aims to achieve their dream from a humble beginning.
After winning the crown, Rabiya Mateo also shared that she hopes to see her father just like what happened to Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados.
“That’s my goal. It happened to Gazini. She found her long-lost father. I also want to have that kind of experience,” the beauty queen from Iloilo City said.
