US JUDGE SAVES TIKTOK FROM TRUMP – For the last couple of months, President Donald Trump was adamant about his decision to ban the social media platform, TikTok in the United States.

TikTok, one of the biggest and most popular video-sharing platforms from China has long had issues regarding data privacy. Along with this, Trump was also vocal about his disinterest in China.

As such, Trump pushed for its removal in the United States. However, TikTok repeatedly defended itself and said user data is stored in servers within the United States and Singapore.

In a bid to keep itself afloat in the US, TikTok filed a temporary injunction in September. This prevented the US government from removing its name from app download platforms such as the Play Store and App Store.

Additionally, a US Federal Judge also issued an injunction which temporarily blocked an Executive Order from the President. This would be the second restrained which favored the video-sharing platform in the U.S. Still, Donald Trump aims to ban the platform outright come November 12.

Trump’s administration was vocal about its concerns regarding TikTok. In the United States alone, TikTok has more than 100 million users. However, due to national safety concerns, Trump and his allies pushed for its ban.

According to an article from Inquirer, the White House claimed that TikTok is linked to the Chinese government through its parent company, ByteDance.
