Air Purifier to Fight Against COVID-19 is Lack of Evidence to be Effective

The Department of Health (DOH) said that air purifier has never yet proven to be effective to fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

DOH has not yet recommended the use of an air purifier that is said to be effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19. At a press briefing Saturday, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that there is not enough evidence that the use of an air purifier can help remove the virus.

The DOH also reminded that it is dangerous to carry out misting to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In fact, he said, there is a recommendation by the World Health Organization that it will cause more trouble.

Based on the report of ABS-CBN, the DOH had earlier warned against misting after the death of a Philippine National Police (PNP) frontliner who inhaled disinfectant. They used to say that the pathogen or the virus will spread even more when it is carried out.
