PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Ofel Exits PAR But To Bring More Rains

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (October 16, 2020)

LATEST WEATHER UPDATE – The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Ofel leaves PAR but would bring rains over parts of the country.

On Friday (October 16, 2020), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather updates in the country. Ofel leaves the Philippine Area of Responsibility and Habagat would still affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA said that Tropical Depression Ofel was last spotted at 500 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph moving 20 kph at a west northwest direction.

Ofel is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area as it moves towards Vietnam. The Northeasterly Surface Windflow might bring cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

The southwest monsoon or popularly known as ‘habagat’ would bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro region, Western and Central Visayas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains are expected over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country duu to the effects of Habagat.

The weather agency also warned the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the entire Luzon would be moderate to rough. Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over the Visayas and Mindanao, according to the weather bureau.
