PAGASA – Ofel Leaves Luzon Moves West-Northwestward Towards West Philippine Sea This October 15, 2020

PAGASA – Here are the following latest updates from the state weather bureau PAGASA, on this day, October 15, 2020 (Thursday).

The severe weather bulletin from the state bulletin says that Tropical Depression Ofel left the landmass of Luzon and is moving west-northwestward towards the West Philippine Sea.

According to GMA News, the weather bureau said that the tropical depression will weaken into a Low Pressure Area within the next 12 to 24 hours over the West Philippine Sea.

Ofel will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon.

Habagat, on the other hand, will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands.

The bureau warned that flash floods and landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards.

Strong-force winds will be faced in areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 during the passage of the tropical depression.

Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and the coastal and mountainous areas of Ilocos Norte and mainland Cagayan Valley will face gusty conditions associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow (NESWF).

Gale warning is in effect over the entire seaboard of Northern Luzon and the seaboard of Aurora due to rough to very rough seas that are associated with the NESWF.

Based on the report, as of 4 AM, the center of Tropical Depression Ofel was last spotted over the coastal waters of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro.

It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kilometers per hour. It is moving in the west northwest direction at 20 kilometers per hour.

Moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 1, the seaboards of Zambales and Polillo Islands.

Sea travel is risky over the said areas, especially for those using small seacrafts.
