Benny Antiporda Apologizes To UP During Live Interview
BENNY ANTIPORDA APOLOGIZES TO UP – Yesterday, tension grew between the University of the Philippines (UP) and the Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda.
Amid calls for collaboration, Antiporda said DENR would be willing if UP offers its services for free. However, this wasn’t taken lightly by the scientific community and the University. Along with this, Antiporda also called the UP “bayaran” (paid hacks).
Following this incident, ANC 24/7 reached out to a representative from UP and Antiporda to hash things out during a live interview. There, Environment Usec. apologized for his words and said: “Natangay po ako ng emotions ko kahapon“.
But, he emphasized that the reason for his outburst was because of UP’s public criticisms of DENR. Furthermore, he noted that since UP MSI and DENR were partners, they should’ve gone to them first instead of going to the media.
Recently, Antiporda went viral for saying that the dolomite in Manila Bay wasn’t washed out. Instead, he asserted that the dolomite used as artificial white sand was merely covered by black sand.
Due to his recurring defensive statements amidst scientific-based criticisms, netizens commented that he shouldn’t be in the position he’s in. Here are some of the comments from netizens:
HIS MAGNIFICENT RANT TOWARDS ENVIRONMENT EXPERTS SHOWS THAT HIM BEING IN DENR IS NOW SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN THAT HIS CEREBRAL NATURAL RESOURCE IS AS SMALL AS THE GRAIN OF DOLOMITE…
He should have listened to scientific experts rather than being arrogant considering he is not an environmentalist nor a scientist.
UPMSI still cool and utterly professional vis a vis Undersec Antiporda. Lets learrn from the experts , let us not be whimpsical
