PAGASA – Nika To Leave PAR; Storm To Enhance In 48 Hours

PAGASA – State weather bureau PAGASA recently said that Tropical depression Nika is set to leave the Philippine area of responsibility.

The weather bureau added that a new new storm will likely develop in 48 hours.

According to ABS-CBN, the bureau said that the 14th storm in the country was last spotted at 340 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur as of 10 AM.

The storm is packed with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. It is moving westward at 15 kilometers per hour.

The low pressure area, on the other hand, was last spotted at about 435 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It is expected to move northwestward towards Bicol region and Eastern Visayas area. The LPA is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression within 48 hours.

Based on the report, the tropical depression and the southwest monsoon or habagat on Monday will bring heavy rains over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Northern Palawan (including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands), and Lubang Island.

Meanwhile, Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon will face light to moderate rains.

The bureau warned that flood and landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall.
