A Young Student Helps An 80-Year-Old Man Sell Aprons, Begins Fund Drive

YOUNG STUDENT HELPS 80-YEAR-OLD MAN – A spark of hope was ignited by an 18-year-old student from Caloocan who went out of his way to help a poor old man.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, millions of Filipinos have been severely affected, especially, the poor. As such, a student by the name of AJ Mirandilla launched a fund campaign help out Fred “Tatay Romie” Cinco.

Thankfully, Mirandilla said that since beginning his campaign on October 1, several groups, orgs, and individuals have reached out to him to provide assistance for the cause. Furthermore, one of the amazing things about this is the fact that Mirandilla barely even knows Tatay Romie.

Additionally, the campaign seemed to be successful as Tatay Romie was given grocery packages, rice, fruits, vegetables, and even a wheelchair. Along with this, the financial assistance Mirandilla got from supporters was enough to provide Tatay Romie with a phone for his family, and a pocket WIFI for his grandkids for their online classes.

According to an article from Tempo, the campaign began when Mirandilla saw a Facebook post from Diana Lao seeking assistance for Tatay Romie. Afterward, Mirandilla said that he immediately reached out to provide his help.

Before the community quarantine began, Mirandilla said that Tatay Romie and his 70-year-old wife, Corazon would travel as far as Laguna to sell their products worth P50 each. They said the did this to support their family along with four of their grandchildren, all of which are minors.

For those who want to help Tatay Romie may reach Mirandilla through his Twitter account @ajmirandilla_ or cellphone number 09151675506.
