DOLE Promotes 30,000 BPO Jobs Are Offered For OFW Repatriates

BPO JOB OPPORTUNITIES – According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) around 30,000, business process outsourcing (BPO) jobs are offered to OFW repatriates.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, thousands of OFWs were forced to return to the Philippines. However, upon returning, many have lost their source of income and are unable to provide for their families, especially in these trying times.

As such, DOLE partnered with the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) to sign an agreement to aid OFWs repatriated due to the pandemic.

During an interview with Teleradyo, Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said:

Ang partnership natin with them is to assist ‘yung mga OFWs na na-repatriate at mabigyan ng oportunidad sa BPO sector kung gusto po nilang mag-retool o mag-reskill ng kanilang kakayanan

Furthermore, interested applicants would be referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). There, TESDA aims to prepare the OFWs and upgrade their skills for the BPO industry.

According to the Labor Department’s data, around 230,000 OFWs have been repatriated to the Philippines amid the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello emphasized the strong demand from the BPO industry as foreign entities begin outsourcing more jobs.
