12-Year-Old Girl Dies From Lice Left Untreated For Three Years

12-Year-Old Girl Dies Due To Severe Lice Infestation

12-YEAR-OLD GIRL DIES FROM LICE – A schoolgirl died from what authorities described as the “worst case” of lice infestation they had ever seen.

Lice is one of the most common pests that kids go through. However, with modern medication, this shouldn’t be a problem. But, if left untreated, the effects could be severe and deadly.

According to an article from an Australian news site, Kaitlyn Yozviak, 12, from Macon in Georgia, US, got anemia from repeated lice bites. Sadly, these lice bites were left untreated for over three years. This eventually led to a fatal cardiac arrest.

Due to the death of Kaitlyn, her parents, Mary Katherine Horton, 37, and Joey Yozviak, 38, were both charged with child cruelty. Furthermore, investigations revealed that she didn’t take a bath for a week before her death.

Additionally, she was forced to live in a rat-filled room that were left scurrying along her mattress and stuffed animals. Experts also revealed that her condition was so bad that she would’ve been living in agony in a daily basis.

Although the autopsy results are yet to be completed, Special Agent Ryan Hilton said he believed that the repeated bites lowered her blood iron level. As a result, Kaitlyn suffered from anemia which possibly triggered the heart attack.
