A Group Of Teachers Forced To Climb Roof To Get Signal For Online Class Responsibilities

TEACHERS CLIMB ROOF TO GET SIGNAL – Amid the coronavirus pandemic, teachers and students shifted toward remote learning.

Although some may find this convenient, there are still a lot of students and teachers who have major challenges with the new system. Among these teachers are from Sto. Nino High School in Batangas City.

Because their school is further away from the city proper, WiFi and data signals were scarce. As such, the teachers were forced to climb to the roof under the scorching heat of the sun just to find a signal.

Earlier today, Education Secretary Leonor Briones officially kicked of school year 2020-2021. Following this, thousands of students have begun their online and modular classes.

However, many have expressed complaints regarding the new system. Previously, the DepEd explained that because there are two schemes for remote learning, there shouldn’t be a reason for students not to have an education.

If a household doesn’t have access to WiFi or strong data signals, they may opt to get modules for their classes instead. But, teachers and concerned groups have long called out for assistance as the modules for the students have yet to be finished.

Among the reasons for this was a lack of funds with teachers themselves covering for the cost of printing. Meanwhile, DepEd also announced that some students may need to share modules as a 1:1 ratio for modules and students would prove difficult.
