The Witches movie was first released in 1990 and featured Anjelica Huston, Mai Zetterling, Rowan Atkinson, and Jasen Fisher.

For the latest version which is set in the year 1967, the cast includes Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Olivia Spencer and Kristin Chenoweth. The voice of Chris Rock is featured as narrator. Based on the article, Zemeckis aimed The Witcher as the rebound after the critical and commercial failure of his last movie Welcome to Marwen. Other notable works of the filmmaker are Allied, The Walk, and Flight.

The Witches is produced by Robert Zemeckis Jack Rapke Guillermo del Toro Alfonso Cuarón Luke Kelly.
