13 Houses Razed By Fire In Brgy. Rizal Estanzuela, Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY – A fire which occured in Barangay Rizal Estanzuela, Iloilo city, destroyed six houses and partially damaged seven more.

The fire began at about 2:10 PM over the weekend on the second floor of the residence owned by Lauro Maestre, according to a report from Panay News.

Fire Senior Inspector Jesus Valenzuela, the city fire marshal, reported that the fire quickly spread to adjacent houses.

The fire completely destroyed five other houses which were owned by Teresita Ledesma, Merlyn Ardonia, Mary Jane Penida, Albert Ardonia, and Charity Penida.

It also partially damaged seven houses which belonged to Lorenzo Gomez, JR Maestre, Alma Palawar, Merly Maestre, Zaiero Magoleño, Allan Dalagatansan, and Cadelaria Dela Flor.

Most of the damaged houses were made of mixed light materials.

Based on the report, Villanueva said that initial probe shows that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

“May nakita na wires na sunog. Tinututukan natin ang angulo na electrical short circuit,”

The fire caused damages that initially amounts to about P900,000.

One person, identified as Joven Gomez, sustained slight burns on his hand. Medical staff from the Bureau of Fire Protection immediately treated the casualty.
