MARIO BAUTISTA BIOGRAPHY – Here is the biography of Mario Bautista, the one who will replace Gabby Lopez as the new ABS-CBN director.

Eugenio ‘Gabby’ Lopez III was ABS-CBN Corporation’s chairman emeritus and director who recently resigned due to personal reasons which wasn’t elaborated. Aside from the media company, at 68 years old, he also left Sky Vision Corporation, Sky Cable Corporation, First Philippine Holdings Corporation, First Gen Corporation, and Rockwell Land Corporation.

According to a previous report, the Board of Directors of the ABS-CBN Corporation accepted and respected his decision to resign and in the official statement, they thanked him for being a “visionary and compassionate leader driven by his love for the Philippines and the Filipino people”.

Now, who will replace him? Accordingly, Mario Luza Bautista was appointed to replace his position. He is a member of the board of advisors of the company since 2011, a board advisor of the First Philippine Holdings Corp., and the founding partner and founding manager of the prestigious Poblador Bautista and Reyes Law Office which started in 1999.

He has 29,000 shares in ABS-CBN company while Lopez, despite his resignation, remained as a stockholder with 769,960 shares. According to Reuters article, he graduated Ateneo de Manila University in 1975 finishing Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Arts and earned his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of the Philippines in 1979. He also landed on the Top 6 of the Bar examination in that year.

He has also served as a professor of Criminal Law at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law and was dubbed as the “leading lawyer” in certain fields associated to dispute resolution, banking and finance, insurance, capital markets, telecoms and media, mergers and acquisitions, employment, corporate reorganizations/insolvency, and real estate.
