According to PhilStar, the said individuals violated quarantine protocols as they partied over the weekend. The operation occured after a concerned citizen reported them to the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s newly created Facebook page.

Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, deputy chief for administration in PNP said that policemen caught the suspects while in a middle od a drinking spree along a street in Barangay Lower Bicutan at around 10:30 PM, September 12.

The arrest took place a day after the agency made a new Facebook account where people can report individuals violating quarantine measures.

Eleazar said a concerned citizen posted photographs of the partygoers who were in a drinking session and violated minimum health standards.

“When the police personnel went there, those who attended the birthday celebration were not wearing face masks and not observing the proper physical distancing,”

Based on the report, sixteen people, among them include a 17-year-old girl, were held and brought to a basketball court, where it is currently the barangay’s holding area for quarantine violators.. The suspects were released after six hours.

The violators are charged for violating a city ordinance banning drinking in public places and resistance and disobedience to persons in authority, Eleazar added.
