July 17 of Every Year Declared by President Duterte As “National Physiatry Day”
PHILIPPINES – President Duterte has issued a proclamation declaring July 17 of every year as the “National Physiatry Day”.
On Thursday (September 10, 2020), Mr. Rodrigo Duterte has signed the Proclamation No. 1017 to raise awareness regarding the increasing cases of musculoskeletal conditions. The conditions is the second largest causes of disability in people all around the world.
The proclamation declares the July of every year as the “National Physiatry Day” because the physiatrists are treating and helping patients with musculoskeletal conditions to recover from the illness.
“Given the growing number of patients with rehabilitation needs in the country, there is a need to strengthen support in providing access and affordable medication and rehabilitation to them by raising awareness and encouraging collaboration among relevant stakeholders,” Duterte said.
President Duterte directed the Health Department to lead the projects in observance of the event. All agencies and instrumentalities under the national government are also encouraged to cooperate with the health department in implementing the program.
