NPA Member Voluntarily Surrendered To Pres. Roxas Town Police
NPA MEMBER – A rebel from the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered voluntarily to police in the town of President Roxas, Capiz.
The rebel, identified as “Nonoy” and “Ka Alan”, 25 years of age, brought a hand explosive when he surrendered to authorities of the Pres. Roxas municipal police station (PRMPS), according to Panay News. Nonoy did this to live a normal and peaceful life.
Captain Rachelle Garnica, police chief of President Roxas town said that the rebel’s surrender was via the effort of the Regional Intelligence Unit 6 under the supervision of Major Delfin Tan with the help of the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company Intelligence Officer Lieutenant Jay Lagan, and town mayor Receliste Escolin.
“The exhausted NPA rebel decided to surrender after he realized that he was deceived by the terrorist group and already tired of living a miserable life in the mountain,”
Garnica added that this proves that the anti-insurgency campaign of local authorities is doing well in Capiz.
The rebel, who is now in RIU6 custody, said that he was a member of Eastern Front Nonito Aguirre Command under Ka Pedic, Ka Reagan and Romeo Ganggoso.
Capiz Police Provincial Office also presented before local tri-media practitioners “Art” who was a former rebel red fighter but surrendered and returned to the folds of law last March . This was also a result of the intensified and comprehensive conduct of intelligence and information operation by the policemen in cooperation with the 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army and the Barangay Intelligence Networks.
“Art” claimed that he surrendered because he could no longer bear the hardship, starvation, lack of security and hopelessness in the mountains.
Ka Art and Ka Alan’s surrender took place as the government is imposing the “Whole-of-Nation” approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, based on the report.
The surrendered rebels will be enrolled to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program in order to start a new and better life as soon as possible.
