The catch has brought hope to fishermen of the city because it means that the water is gradually being cleaned. It can be recalled that Marikina City is one of the cities in the National Capital Region or NCR that is rapidly flooded.

Due to that, the dirt quickly flows into the river, in addition to the dumping of garbage by some undisciplined people. Aside from that, the local government also recorded an African Swine Fever (ASF) infection in the water.

However, due to the local government restrictions, in October 2019, Mayor Teodoro said the African swine fever (ASF) virus is no longer residing in the Marikina River.

Everybody hopes that there is still many large fish in the river, not only this dory. On the other hand, cream dory is a type of fish described as “large-eyed, silvery, deep-bodied, laterally compressed, and roughly discoid marine fish.”
