Pinoy Musicians Deserve Global Spotlight Just Like South Korean Artists – David Foster

DAVID FOSTER – Canadian musician David Foster said Pinoy musicians deserve spotlight in the international music scene just like South Korean artists.

Canadian musician, arranger, composer, and record producer David Walter Foster is famous for his collaborations with record-breaking artists including Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. He has won 16 Grammy Awards.

David was also one of the judges in ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ for three seasons. Last year, he and Broadway singer Katharine McPhee married in London.

David Foster was a big influence to Filipino singer Charice Pempengco, now known as Jake Zyrus‘ rise to international stardom in 2009. He produced songs for the young singer and became part of his ‘David Foster and Friends’ concert tours.

In his recent interview with CNN Philippines’ Rico Hizon on ‘The Final Word,’ he said Filipino musicians deserve a global spotlight just like South Korean artists. “It’s just shocking that it hasn’t happened yet,” he said.

South Korean artists are now taking the world by storm. In a previous article, K-pop band BTS became the first South Korean artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 with their latest single ‘Dynamite.’

“Filipino people love music so much and they have such great training on it,” David said.

Praising Pinoy’s love for music, the 70-year-old Canadian recounted that Pinoys usually sing to every lyric of his song. He described them as unique among music lovers across the globe.

David also looked back at his collab with Jake Zyrus. He said he should have included him in his documentary titled “David Foster: Off the Record.” In his upcoming Netflix docu, he chronicled his career spanning almost 5 decades.

“She was an amazing talent, but we couldn’t seal the deal (with her),” he shared.
