Mayor Isko Offers P100k Incentives to Villages with Zero COVID-19 Cases

Villages with Zero COVID-19 Cases to Receive P100k Incentives from Mayor Isko

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno offers P100k incentives to those villages or barangays with zero coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

In a Facebook live update of Mayor Isko, he announced that the village who will record zero infected cases will get a reward. He said that this is an additional approach that they are implementing so that barangays can help the city government.

“This is goal setting, in the next two months starting September 1 to October 31, pag kayo ay walang nairehistro sa amin, malalaman naman namin sa Manila Health Department, na walang infection, walang new cases sa inyong barangay, ang barangay nyo ay magkakamit ng PHP100,000,” Manila Mayor said.

Moreno also said that he has already asked Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan for the Manila Council to allocate the P89.6 million budget for the said program. He also hopes that everyone will work hard to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Kinausap ko na po si Vice Mayor Honey kanina. Maga-appropriate po tayo ng PHP89.6 million, kasi ang goal natin, hopefully, kanya-kanya tayong magsisigasig para labanan ang Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Moreno said that under this initiative, all Covid-19 data will be verified by the Manila Health Department and will check whether or not the village recorded the Covid-19 infection within two months, based on the report of PNA.

He said the budget allocated will be the amount of the total incentive for 896 barangays. If in case all 896 barangays in the city make a concerted effort to achieve the goal.

“This is a challenge, there are 896 barangays in the city of Manila, 896 barangay chairmen, times 11 officials, they can be of help and I want to give them an incentive,” Moreno said.

The city Mayor added that there are only 4 months left in the year 2020, he understands that many barangays in the city have already spent out their budgets to live during this pandemic.

Barangays that could achieve the Covid-19’s zero cases goal in the next two months will also receive a certification of appreciation from each of its officials acknowledging their efforts.
