Filipino Motorists Air Dismay to the Motorcycle Plates New Design

Most of Filipino motorists air disappointment and slammed the Land Transportation Office (LTO) new motorcycle plates design.

The Republic Act No. 11235 or known as the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act has been one of the most controversial topics online before the pandemic. Based on the previous article, the ‘Doble Plaka’ bill urges the motorists to install two large plate numbers on their motorcycles (Front & Rear).

The bill aims to lessen the crime rate in the Philippines that involves motorcycles. However, lots of motorists have expressed their disappointment towards the bill.

Recently, The Land Transportation Office (LTO) NCR-West in Quezon has shown to the public the installation of the new motorcycle plates. Photos and videos were shared online on how and where they install the plates in a motorcycle.

According to the report of ABS-CBN, the new license plate has a larger frame, RFID sticker, QR code, reflectorized sheeting, and color-coding that depends on the color in the region where the motorcycle is registered.

Meanwhile, the installation has drawn criticisms from the motorist netizens. Other motorists complained that the government can’t even release the older license plate they have been waiting for years, and now they have released unnecessary plates.
