Sea Sinkhole Found in Masbate Town After Struck by Powerful Tremor

Pio V. Corpuz town, Masbate – A sinkhole has been found near the coastal area of Brgy. Casabangan after struck by strong earthquake.

On Tuesday (August 19, 2020), the province of Masbate has been struck by a magnitude 6.6 earthquake. The powerful tremor has destroyed several houses and establishment in the quake-affected areas.

The strong quake also causes fear and panic to the public after causing damage in different towns. About 270 aftershocks have been recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology as of this writing.

Recently, the Twitter page “Manila Bulletin News” reported that a sinkhole allegedly appeared near the shore at Brgy. Casabangan, Pio V. Corpuz town in the province of Masbate. The page also posted the photo of the shoreline.

According to the report, the sinkhole has been found after the town has been struck by a magnitude 6.6 earthquake. The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) discovered the sinkhole while conducting an aerial survey.
