PAGASA – Here are the following latest updates from the state weather bureau PAGASA, on this day, August 18, 2020 (Tuesday).

The latest weather update from the state bureau said that the southwest monsoon or habagat will be affecting the western section of the Philippines while the trough of Low Pressure Area (LPA) will affect the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

According to GMA News, the currently active tropical cyclone which was formerly known as Tropical Depression Helen was located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at about 365 kilometers west of extreme northern Luzon.

It was packed with maximum sustained winds at 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

Habagat wil bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and BARMM.

The bureau warned that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.

The trough of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Visayas. Again, the bureau warned that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to habagat or localized thunderstorms.

The bureau warned that flash floods or landslides may occur especially during severe thunderstorms.

Based on the report, for the wind speed forecast, Luzon will have light to moderate winds that are moving in the southwest to southeast direction while facing slight to moderate coastal waters.

Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds that are moving in the southwest to west direction while facing slight to moderate coastal waters.
