PhilHealth Executive Officials Take Leave From Work Starting Today – Spokesperson
PHILHEALTH EXECUTIVE OFFICIALS – The executive members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) are on leave starting today amid the corruption issues.
PhilHealth is currently facing corruption allegations. It was after one of its former anti-fraud officials accused the agency of corrupt practices allegedly with regard to its purchases.
PhilHealth Ricardo Morales was quick to put down the corruption allegation stressing that the official is bitter towards the agency and is not qualified. Following the issues, a probe was lodged.

During the hearing, a PhilHealth official said that the agency may have no more funds by 2022 if the COVID-19 pandemic continues to persist. It alarmed a lot of people as a huge part of the Filipino populace is relying on the agency when it comes to medical insurance.
Amid the corruption allegations, PhilHealth Chief Ricardo Morales filed a medical leave. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the agency’s Executive Vice President, Arnel De Jesus, also took a medical leave.
According to the report, six (6) PhilHealth executive officials who are regional vice presidents are also taking a leave. PhilHealth spokesperson Dr. Shirley Domingo said that their 5-day leave will start today.
With regard to their duties, Dr. Domingo assured that the PhilHealth executive officials’ leave will not affect the operation of the agency. According to her, there are people in line who will take over the job.
Last week, PhilHealth decided to suspend its advance deposits to hospitals. Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the agency said that it will not affect the members who are needing medical coverage.
