Duque Still Missing Amid PhilHealth Corruption Hearings
DUQUE STILL MISSING – Health Secretary Francisco Duque III once again distanced himself from the investigations regarding PhilHealth’s alleged corruption.
In a Tweet, Senator Panfilo Lacson called out the health secretary and called him the “Big Elephant”.
The “big elephant” was not in the room during the two Senate Committee of the Whole hearings on PhilHealth’s unbridled corruption. Hopefully we will see him next Tuesday.
According to an article from Inquirer, Panfilo said that he would like to quiz Duque about his apparent silence.
Duque served as the chairperson of the state-run Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) in an ex-officio capacity. However, since investigations began, Duque had been mum on the issues regarding the alleged corruption.
As per the article, Lacson said that when Duque appears on the next hearing on Tuesday, he would ask him about being the incumbent ex-officio chairman of PhilHealth.
Furthermore, Lacson highlighted that the Health Chief was present during the last board meeting which shed light into PhilHealth’s new controversies.

Likewise, Senator Risa Hontiveros also questioned Duque’s silence on the issue. She added that Duque is the main official who could shed light on the repeated controversies within PhilHealth. Moreover, she emphasized that Duque cannot feign ignorance.
Si Secretary Duque lang, sa dalawang dekadang ito, ang merong institutional memory about the goings on inside of PhilHealth. So hanggang saan ang involvement niya? Hanggang saan ang knowledge?
