Joy Belmonte has this statement on the controversial post of Rannie Ludovica

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte gave her reaction to the controversial post of the city’s task force head Rannie Ludovica.

Ludovica, in his now-deleted Facebook post, said that the “shoot-to-kill” order should be implemented to those who will violate the MECQ protocols. Because of this, he was criticized on social media and even Senator Risa Hontiveros slammed him.

Following the criticism that he received, the QC official issued a statement and made a clarification. He stressed that his controversial statement was a “personal post” and should not be taken as the statement of the local government of Quezon City.

Based on the article from the Manila Bulletin, Mayor Joy Belmonte gave a statement regarding this issue. In an interview, the QC Mayor said that people should not take the post of Ludovica literally but she said that it is still “very wrong and in very poor taste.”

She also shared that she understands where the QC Task Force head was coming from when he said that statement.

“I see it more as an expression of frustration that five months into the quarantine, the cases still keep growing, partly because people can’t seem to comply with minimum health standards,” the Mayor said.

Belmonte also stressed that what the official posted does not echo the statement from the local government. “I’d like to assure the people of Quezon City that his personal post in no way reflects our city’s policies, principles, and inclinations,” she said.
