RUBEN ECLEO JR – The former Dinagat Congressman was arrested by the authorities in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has lists of the “wanted” individuals. Some of these people were being searched for several years already including former Representative Ruben Ecleo Jr.

Ecleo has served as the congressman of Dinagat Islands before. He was also the “Supreme Master” of a cult group – the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association (PBMA).

In 2002, the wife of the former Congressman, Alona Ecleo, was found dead. He was the suspect for the death of his wife.

Alona’s body was found dead in Dalaguete, Southern Cebu. It was placed inside a black garbage bag and thrown to a hill.

Based on a report on Pep, former Dinagat Congressman Ruben Ecleo Jr. was found guilty by the Court over the death of his wife. The Court also convicted him for graft and corruption when he was still the mayor of San Juan, Surigao del Norte.

Ecleo hid for nine (9) years. Under the administration of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, a two-million cash reward was offered for anyone who can give a factual information on the whereabouts of the cult master.

According to the report, it was found out that Ecleo was living in Angeles City. He was also using the name “Manuel Liberal”.

Recently, the authorities arrested former Dinagat Congressman Ruben Ecleo Jr. in San Fernando, Pampanga. It was a joint operation of the Regional Intelligence Division-Special Operations Group and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Ecleo’s sentenced by Court for a lifetime imprisonment and a P25-million damages over the death of his wife. His driver, Benjie Relacion Fernan, was also arrested and will face charges for obstruction of justice.
