RUBEN ECLEO JR – Here is the biography of the former Dinagat Islands Congressman including his political career, religion, and the court verdict.

One of the biggest personalities in the list of the “most wanted” individuals by the Philippine National Police is Ruben Ecleo Jr. Recently, he was arrested by the authorities in San Fernando, Pampanga after more than eight (8) years of hiding in another name.

Family:

  • Wife: Alona Bacolod-Ecleo

Ruben was married to Alona. However, in 2002, the wife of the politician was found dead in a hill in Cebu. He was the suspect over the death of the 20-year-old young lady.

The Court found Ruben guilty over the death of his own wife. Alona’s body was found inside a black trash bag thrown in a hill in Cebu. Her brother, Josebil, testified that the former Surigao del Norte Mayor uses drugs.

The family of Alona was also attacked at their home based on Cebu Daily News. It led to the death of her parents, Elpidio and Rosalia and her siblings Ben and Evelyn. It came after her brother, Ben, also testified against Ruben.

Religion:

  • ‘Supreme Master’ of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association (PBMA)

Ruben succeeded his father, Ruben Ecleo Sr., when the latter died in 1987. The said religious organization is said to have millions of members. Allegedly, they pledged to protect their “Supreme Master” even amid the charges filed against him before the court.

Recently, Ruben Ecleo Jr. was arrested by the authorities in San Fernando, Pampanga. He used the name “Manuel Liberal” and hid for more than eight (8) years with the condition of reappearing only if the case against him over the death of his wife would be reopened.
