DSWD Detects 675K Recipients Received SAP Aid from Different Government Agencies

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) discovered at least 675k duplicate names and at least 249k ineligible beneficiaries.

According to the report of Brigada News, The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said more than 675,000 individuals have received cash assistance from more than one government agency or duplicates.

Meanwhile, there are more than 239,000 recipients are ineligible. Those ineligible beneficiaries have relatives or family members working in a government sector or working abroad, while others have businesses and still working amid the pandemic.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao did not reveal where most of the duplication or unqualified beneficiaries came from. According to Dumlao, local government units are responsible for repaying or refunding the amount provided on duplicated and ineligible beneficiaries.

It will be noted that not only the DSWD implemented the social amelioration program, but also the Department of Labor and Employment, Social Security System, and many others. As a result, the agency will intensify their validation efforts.

To date, there are 6,590,966 families who already received cash assistance from the second tranche of SAP. Meanwhile, the deadline for the second tranche SAP distribution is expected to be finished by the end of July.
