ABS-CBN Awarded as “Best TV Station” at the 18th Gawad Tanglaw
ABS-CBN – The Kapamilya network won the “Best TV Station of the Year” award at the 18th Gawad Tanglaw.
The recent months were very challenging for the Kapamilya network. It was denied of a fresh 25-year franchise following the 70-11 voting of the House Franchise Committee.
More than two (2) months ago, the network went off-air after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a Cease and Desist Order against it. It was over the expired franchise of the network.
The result of the voting of the House Franchise Committee sparked different reactions from the public. Some are satisfied and support the denial of a franchise for the network while others were disappointed.
Many people are after the Kapamilya employees who may lose their job amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The management has already released a statement confirming the employee retrenchment.
ABS-CBN News reporter Ces Drilon is one of those who lost their job following the franchise denial. She’s one of those who encountered a huge risk before in the line of duty.

Amid the challenges to ABS-CBN Network now, it was recently awarded as the “Best TV Station of the Year” at the 18th Gawad Tanglaw or Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw.
Based on a report, aside from the said major award, the Kapamilya network’s “TV Patrol” was also awarded as the “Best News Program”. The ceremony is set to be held on September 20.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only those who are invited may come to the event. More updates may be posted soon.
