‘Plan B’ for SONA 2020 is being considered
SONA 2020 – Senator Christopher “Bong” Go said that the ‘Plan B’ for this year’s State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte is being considered.
This option surfaced to the public following the swab tests that were held in the House of Representative where the SONA is being held, based on the report from The Philippine Star.
In order to ensure the safety of the Chief Executive and government officials who will attend the annual event amid the pandemic, those who will attend will have to undergo COVID-19 testing.
Based on the report, there were persons at Congress who tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease 2019. Because of this, Senator Go said that they are considering the “option 2”. This option means that the President of the Philippines will deliver his speech in Malacanang instead at the HOR.
A report from Rappler stated that the decision whether to push through with the original plan or do the option 2 will be announced at 2 PM on July 27.
Meanwhile, those opposing the government have various activities prepared to show their protest. Some groups already held their rally at the early hours of Monday. There were also those who were arrested for it was mandated that rallies are prohibited during the SONA.
On the other hand, there were those who chose a more peaceful way of showing their protest, especially those who have been avidly supporting ABS-CBN.
Based on a previous report, stars in the Philippine entertainment industry is set to do an online concert titled. “Tinig ng Bayan: SONAgkaisa Concert.” while the President is having his SONA 2020.
People behind this event said that this was initiated because of their “love of country and the greater good.”
