Senator Panfilo Lacson Reacts On Death Of High-Profile Inmates Due To COVID-19

SENATOR PANFILO LACSON – Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson made a statement regarding the death of eight high-profile inmates of New Bilibid Prison.

Some inmates in the New Bilibid Prison were recently dead due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

They were among the occupants of NBP’s Building 14, which is known who be the most secured facility within the Maximum Security Compound. Most of the occupants in the said building were convicted drug dealers.

Among the fatalities was Jaybee Sebastian, who is a key witness of a drug trade. As for the identities of other inmates, Bureau of Corrections director-general Gerald Bantag refused to disclose any of them.

According to News5 AKSYON, Sen. Panfilo Lacson made a statement regarding the incident. This is what he said in his statement:

Unless there is very compelling reason to suspect any foul play -and as of now, there is none -personally, I’d rather focus on more pressing matters than be distracted by the death/s of drug/convicts/s who had shown no remorse at all by continuing their drug operations even in the confines of the high-security facility of the New Bilibid Prison”
